Açaí berries are actually kind of a joke. Yes, they are high in antioxidants, but this is in their whole form, not in pasteurized processed juices–pasteurization destroys antioxidants. Also, the shipment of the berries to the US adds alot of CO2 to the atmosphere. BTW it’s açaí (uh-sigh-ee).

  4. paulaaquino says:

you should say it like this: assay (emphasize the y)…
because it’s original name in Brazilian Portuguese is açaí…

  5. paulaaquino says:

Let’s face: acai and olive oil are helthy foods… but loaded with calories…
So let’s watch out for those..

Olive oil was also in the news this year because neither the USDA nor the FDA has a legal definition for what is “olive oil.” Importers are throwing everything from peanut oil to animal feed-grade soybean oil in their bottles and calling it olive oil. Currently, as long as there is a measureable amount (a couple of drops count) of olive oil in the bottle, it can be called olive oil.

USDA is seeking to close the loophole, but I think they’re still in comment period.

Thanks, I’ve been pronouncing Acai wrong, apparently. I wonder if I can grow Acai berries, hmmmmm. Guess I’ll be looking into THAT! Happy New Year, everybody!

    ily sarah!

  18. mysticalpaladin says:

I love acai berry but you can’t really get the nutrition from it because sodium benzene plus citric acid (both acai perservatives) equal benzene which is a carcinogen/oxidizer therefore, it cancels out your purpose of drinking it. However, I love omega 3s
